PVcase 2022 Year in Review

In 2022, amid global challenges like the pandemic aftermath and geopolitical tensions emphasizing renewable energy's importance, PVcase doubled its workforce, expanded its global presence, maintained gender balance, planted 1500 trees, and advanced its solar software products by launching Roof Mount solutions, enhancing Ground Mount features with dual row trackers and terrain import, and improving Yield with new loss factors, 3D visualization, and validation studies to support solar energy development.

In 2022, the world faced significant challenges, including the aftermath of the pandemic and the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which greatly affected the energy sector. These events highlighted the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar, in increasing Europe's energy independence. Despite issues such as supply chain complexities, there were positive developments, including the passing of The Inflation Reduction Act in the USA, which promotes clean energy and opens new opportunities for solar.

PVcase also experienced an intense year, focusing on innovation and supporting solar energy development through high-quality software. Here are the key achievements from 2022:

PVcase Growth

  • The company doubled in size, with 59 new employees joining in 2022.
  • Customer and user bases grew by 64% and 71%, respectively.
  • PVcase employees spent over 1000 days on business trips.
  • Achieved and maintained a 50/50 gender balance.
  • Became a truly global company with employees in 12 countries.
  • Planted around 1500 trees as part of the PVcase forest initiative.

Products

Ground Mount

  • Introduced an introduction tutorial to increase engagement and feature usage among trial users.
  • Added dual row trackers, introducing new challenges and possibilities.
  • Enabled online terrain import for faster layout generation.
  • Revamped electrical features with significant improvements.
  • Added pine trees, especially in December.

Roof Mount

  • Launched PVcase Roof Mount to serve commercial and industrial rooftop projects.

Yield

  • Expanded the number of testing users and incorporated their feedback into product improvements.
  • Key enhancements included:
    • Inclusion of additional losses.
    • Improved format compatibility between Ground Mount and Yield.
    • Ability to include a meteo.csv file and grid limitations.
    • 3D PV system visualization for more accurate and automated energy evaluation.
    • Conducted internal validation studies to improve accuracy.

Events

2022 marked the return of in-person events after the pandemic. PVcase attended around 40 events globally, with team members participating as speakers and panelists to boost brand visibility. Notable events included Intersolar Europe 2022 (Munich, Germany), RE+ 2022 (Anaheim, USA), and the World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-8).

The team valued the opportunity to reconnect with the solar community in person, gaining insights into audience needs and increasing brand recognition. PVcase looks forward to an even more eventful and successful 2023.
